Websites for support coordinators, for the model that remains

Support coordination is funded as it is until 1 July 2028. The sensible site is trust-first, referral-led and cheap to run.

What a coordination firm needs from a site

A support coordinator is hired for judgement and independence, and the site has to show both. The pages we build are few and plain. They say who works with whom, how often a participant can expect contact, what areas you serve, and how you handle a conflict of interest. They offer a short form and a phone number.

The service is often remote and statewide, so we avoid pretending to a local presence you do not have. If you deliver in person in two regions, those two regions get pages.

The referral side

Referrals come from planners, hospitals and other providers, and they notice response time. A referral page names a person, states whether you are taking new clients and gives a reply time you can meet. We make it easy to change the capacity line, because an out of date line is worse than a missing one.

The conflict statement

The NDIA treats a coordinator delivering other funded supports as a conflict to declare and manage. A short, specific statement on the site does more than a policy PDF. It says whether your organisation delivers other supports, how a participant can ask for alternatives and that you keep records. A statement that is true and plain reassures a family and a regulator alike.

The 2028 change

Support coordination in its current form is funded until 1 July 2028. After that the NDIA appoints providers to a new service through a process described as merit-based. We do not know the criteria. The helpful thing a site can do is keep your registration, team, systems and complaints route current and clearly written. That is useful today and useful for any application later.

For the same reason we recommend a lighter acquisition setup than for other segments: a trust-first site, referral partners and minimal paid search. The page for plan managers covers the panel that arrives nine months earlier.

Competing with the NDIA's own page

The NDIA's how to find a support coordinator page ranked first for the near me search in our check. A single coordinator does not outrank it, and does not need to. What works is being the named name on the shortlist: a clear site, a short Business Profile and a reputation among referrers.

Conflicts, inducements and the 2028 change

NDIS Commission, NDIA and the Department of Health

Mandatory registration for support coordination is paused, and registered and unregistered providers follow the Code of Conduct either way. From 1 July 2028 support coordination stops being funded individually in plans, and the NDIA appoints providers to a new support coordination and connection service. The NDIA lists a coordinator requiring a specific plan manager as a conflict that limits choice, and the Commission's guidance says providers should not give, ask for or accept inducements, including referral arrangements with other providers.

The site carries a conflict-of-interest statement, says plainly how you stay independent and has no referral-fee language. A line about the 2028 change says what you deliver today and nothing about a future role.

Where coordination clients come from

Referrals dominate. Search matters mostly for those who start without one.

Your questions

Does a support coordinator need to be registered?
Not currently. The Commission has paused mandatory registration for support coordination. Many are registered anyway, 3,460 at 3 November 2026.
What is changing in 2028?
From 1 July 2028 support coordination will not be funded individually in plans, and the NDIA will appoint providers to deliver a new support coordination and connection service through a merit-based process.
How much is spent on support coordination?
$1.24bn in 2025-26, up 8.0%, across 351,190 participants.
Can a coordinator recommend its own organisation's services?
Only with the conflict declared and managed and alternatives offered. The NDIA and the Commission both say so.
Can a coordinator require a particular plan manager?
The NDIA lists this as an example of a conflict that limits choice and control.
Can we pay or accept referral fees?
The Commission's guidance says providers should not give, ask for or accept inducements that affect how supports are provided, including referral arrangements with other providers. The 2026 Act package also lists a ban on kickbacks and inducements.
Where does a participant start looking?
The NDIA runs a page called how to find a support coordinator. It ranked first on Google for "support coordinator near me" in our check on 3 November 2026.
What should a coordinator's site say about 2028?
That is a judgement and not a rule. Say what the firm delivers today and, if it intends to apply to the new service, say that it intends to apply. Do not promise a future role.
