SEO for dentists: answer the cost and fund questions

Searchers type cost, fund names and bulk bill long before they type a clinic name. The practice that answers those questions plainly is the one that gets found.

A fixed clinic, not a service area

Local

A general practice draws from a few kilometres. Orthodontics, implants and oral surgery draw from across a metro region, because patients are referred or travel for a consultation.

  • One Business Profile per location, in the registered name, with the Dentist category and services listed
  • Pages for each treatment and each practitioner, and a page on how to find the clinic, not twenty suburb copies
  • Wider reach for implants and aligners, because those patients compare several clinics
  • Opening hours kept exact, including Saturday and after hours, because open today and open Sunday are common searches

Cost, funds and the urgent few

Treatment names are searched with cost and fund names attached. Emergency dentist is a smaller term than dentist, but the highest intent.

Answer the question before the chair

People shop for dental work on price and cover. A person with a quote for an implant opens several clinic sites and reads for how cost is explained, whether funds are named and whether the practice takes new patients. The practice that explains these things gets the call.

We write a page for each treatment you want more of. Each says what it involves, what changes the quote, how funds usually apply and how to book a consultation. Where you have a price list you can stand behind, we show it with its terms.

The profile and the practitioners

The Business Profile carries the registered name, the Dentist category, the services and the exact hours. Each dentist gets a page that names their registration accurately and links to the Ahpra register. The page helps a searcher who was given a name, and it ties the name to the clinic for Google.

Funding as content

Fund and scheme names are searched on their own. A page on Bupa or HCF networks, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule and payment plans meets that search. We keep the claim exact, and we say patients should confirm cover with their fund.

What the report says

Each month: the searches the site was shown for, the pages changed, the calls and bookings recorded and anything that did not move.

Where the searcher is sent instead

We have not measured page one. These are the listings and sellers a practice sits beside, so check the results for your own suburb.

Booking platforms
HotDoc and HealthEngine list practices and take bookings. Practice listings there count as the practice's advertising when the practice controls them.
Fund finders
Bupa runs a Members First network and HCF a No-Gap network, and each has a find-a-provider tool.
Corporate groups
Large chains spend on brand search. Their names turn up in cost searches, such as wisdom teeth removal at a named chain.
Dental tourism
Overseas clinics appear in implant, whitening and wisdom teeth searches, so cost pages compete with a lower price in another country.

Specialist is a protected word

Dental Board of Australia and Ahpra

Only a practitioner with specialist registration in a recognised specialty may use a specialist title in advertising, including in the business name. Words like orthodontist, periodontist and oral surgeon apply only to registered specialists. A general dentist must not use specialty wording that leads the public to think they hold specialist registration. Ahpra notes the advertising rules reach third-party sites such as booking platforms and directories when the practice controls the content.

The Business Profile name and category, the page titles and the headings say provides Invisalign or has an interest in implants, never orthodontist or implant specialist for a general dentist. We check each practitioner on the Ahpra public register before a page names them.

Read the Board's guidelines

SEO for dentists: your questions

Does a dentist need SEO if Google Business reviews already bring patients?
Reviews help the map listing. SEO adds the pages that answer cost, fund and process questions, which the map listing cannot. Searchers for implants and aligners read several sites before they book.
Can I write a page about dental implant cost with a price?
Only with your own price list, and with terms if it is an offer. Implants are quoted per treatment plan after a consultation, so most pages explain what changes the quote and give a way to book the consult.
Should I have a page for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
If you take eligible children, yes. The cap is $1,158 for 2026 over two calendar years, and parents search the scheme by name. The page explains what it covers and how your front desk checks eligibility.
Can the site say we are a Bupa preferred provider?
If you hold that status. State it plainly and say patients should confirm with their fund before treatment. Do not use fund logos you have no permission to use.
Do suburb pages work for a dental practice?
Rarely. A dental clinic is a fixed address, not a service-area business. One real page for each treatment and each dentist beats twenty near-identical suburb pages.
Can the page say pain-free or the best dentist?
No. The guidelines treat claims like pain-free, the best and most advanced as unsafe without acceptable evidence. We write what the treatment involves and leave out outcome promises.
How long does dental SEO take?
No one can name a date. A cleaned profile can show within weeks. Treatment and cost pages usually take months, and the time depends on how many nearby practices publish on the same topics. We report each month what moved.
What do you do that other dental agencies do not?
We lead with an audit of what your site and profile say against the Board's rules, a check on the booking path on a phone and a plan for the pages your patients ask about most. We do not promise more patients.
