Website, SEO and Google Ads for lawyers

Regulated advertising, anxious readers and a reputation that is checked before anyone calls.

Rule 36 governs every word on the site

Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules says advertising must not be false, misleading or deceptive, or likely to mislead. A solicitor must not give a false impression of specialist expertise, and must not use the words accredited specialist unless accredited by the relevant professional association. Practice pages say practises in or has experience in, and personal injury advertising is restricted by state law in Queensland, WA and the NT.

How people hire lawyers

A person charged on Saturday, a couple separating and a home buyer read a law firm's site very differently. Criminal clients search a court town, conveyancing clients search a fee, and family clients read for weeks. Many look up a name they were given.

The site gives each practice area its own page, with the phone number and hours answered for the urgent ones, and a calm, plain start for wills and estates after a death.

Who arrives at a lawyer's site

Criminal and traffic
A phone number that dials on a tap, the hours it is answered and the courts you attend. A charge, a court date or a licence is at stake.
Family law
How a matter runs, what it costs and how to book a first call. Cost words come first in searches.
Conveyancing
A fixed fee guide where you can state one, your licence details and how an agent or broker refers a client.
Wills and estates
Who can make a will, what an estate involves and a calm way to start.
Employment
The 21 day deadline for an unfair dismissal application, with a prompt to call straight away.
